chrome adding 2 new features to their browser
8 DEC 2022
In addition to being quick and safe, Google Chrome has a longstanding reputation for being memory-hungry, much like a famished adolescent at an all-you-can-eat buffet. However, Chrome will ultimately lose weight just in time for the new year.
Memory Saver and Battery Saver will be added to Chrome over the coming weeks for Windows, Macs, and Chromebooks alike, Google said on Tuesday. Google just stated that these new functionalities would be available; no specific date was provided.
The features largely function as promised. As a "smoother-running browser experience," RAM Saver is marketed as saving up to 30% more memory when using Chrome. How? by deleting tabs that aren't being used right now to free up memory. When a tab is idle, it is effectively put into a static state where its resources are accessible elsewhere. If necessary, the tab may then be refreshed.
In a blog post unveiling the new function, Google stated that it was "particularly helpful if you're running other heavy activities, like editing family movies or playing games.
When the battery on your laptop falls below 20%, Google Chrome will switch to energy-saving mode and begin reducing background activities and visual effects for websites that require them. It’s similar to Microsoft Edge’s efficiency mode.
